In 1983 entrepreneur Aris Voudouris relaunched Eleftheros Typos for the third time since it was first founded in 1916. When Voudouris died in an accident in 1989 the newspaper's assets were transferred to the Lilian Voudouri Foundation. In 2006 Greek businesswoman Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki acquired the paper and then sold it again in 2009. Eleftheros Typos is closely aligned with the conservative Nea Demokratia party.
