The daily paper Le Quotidien grew from being the supplement of the French regional paper Le Républicain to become an independent publication in 2001. It is now Luxembourg's best selling Frencophone daily. La Voix du Luxembourg, its competitor which was founded in the same year, shut down in 2011.
