The right-wing conservative daily Magyar Idők was founded in 2015 after Prime Minister Viktor Orbán fell out with his political ally of many years, media mogul Lajos Simicska. As a result many journalists left Simicska's three media organs, the daily paper Magyar Nemzet, the news channel HírTv and radio broadcaster Lánchídrádió and founded Magyar Idők. The paper is generally regarded as pro-government in stance. Since February 6, 2019, Magyar Idők has been published under the name of Magyar Nemzet, that was discontinued in 2018, and is now owned by the pro-government media foundation KESMA.
