Ivo Prokopiev founded the daily newspaper Dnevnik in 2001 with the declared intention of creating a serious alternative to the mass journalism prevalent at the time. Well-researched articles, a moderate language style and the avoidance of sensational headlines earned it a reputation as a quality newspaper. In 2011 the print edition merged with business paper Pari (Money) to form Kapital Daily. The online only Dnevnik.bg has successfully maintained the quality of the print version and is now one of Bulgaria's leading news sites.
