In March 2018, the two Romanian journalists Cristian Pantazi and Dan Tapalaga founded the blog Group 4 Media, with the aim of publishing daily news, disclosures, analysis and commentary. Previously, they had worked for many years as editors on the Romanian news site Hotnews. By their own account, they finance the new blog through donations and project funding from their non-governmental organization "Asociatia Group 4 Media Freedom and Democracy". They claim to have no specific political orientation. Their aim is to help preserve the rule of law and modernise Romanian democracy. Their comments show that they are liberal-conservative in orientation.
