Agos is a weekly paper that was founded by Armenians living in Istanbul in 1996. It appears in Turkish and Armenian. Despite its low circulation it is considered an important publication that openly discusses sensitive topics. Its founder Hrant Dink was persecuted for years by nationalist forces within Turkish society and the Turkish judiciary. In 2007 he was shot dead outside the paper's editorial offices.
