Balsas website was founded in 2005 by private individuals. In 2007 it became part of the Balsas.lt leidiniai media group. Balsas focused mainly on sensational tabloid news and entertainment. In 2015 the Swedish company Modern Times Group, owner of the television channel TV3, acquired several websites including Balsas.lt the content of which is now published under the name Tv3.It. Since then visitors to Balsas.lt are automatically redirected to the Tv3.lt website. At the end of 2017 both the website and the TV channel were acquired by the US fund Providence Equity.
