Bild is a national tabloid and Germany's highest circulation newspaper. It has belonged to Axel Springer publishing group since its foundation and is printed in a national edition and 25 regional and city editions. Bild regularly attracts criticism for its crude over-simplification and sensationalism. Bild.de is the most frequently called up news website in Germany. In 2019 the merger of the previously independent brands Bild and Bild am Sonntag was announced.
