The Swiss media company Ringier started out on the Romanian media market with the launch of business weekly Capital. Until the end of 2007 the magazine was the country's most widely read business weekly with a circulation of around 30,000 copies, but owing to stiff competition its circulation dropped dramatically. Ringier sold the newspaper in 2010. The current majority shareholder is Romanian political consultant and journalist Dan Andronic, who faces various criminal charges. Capital is published by the same publisher as Evenimentul Zilei.
