Corriere della Sera is one of Italy's most influential newspapers but is itself influenced by large corporations. Its publisher, RCS Media Group, is a publicly listed company. Media and advertising mogul Urbano Cairo has controlled 48.8 percent of the stock in the Milanese media group since 2016. Corriere's new boss, a graduate of Milan's Bocconi University, learned his skills from Silvio Berlusconi. He became the media tycoon and future head of government's personal assistant at the age of 24. The Cairo Communication group owns tabloids and men's magazines as well as cooking, gardening and travel publications. In 2013 Cairo took over struggling television station La7 from Telecom Italia and brought it back on track through major restructuring.
