Deutsche Welle (DW) is Germany's international broadcaster and is mainly financed via funding from the German federal budget, i.e. tax revenues. DW's Romanian service website is updated daily. The stated goal of the Romanian newsroom is to act as a voice for democracy, freedom and the rule of law. Many of the commentaries lean towards conservatism. The Romanian service, which has existed since 1963, has had an online presence since 2002.
