Die Welt is a national daily newspaper founded in the British occupied zone in Hamburg after WWII. In 1993 it relocated its headquarters to Berlin. In 2012, Die Welt became Germany's first national daily to introduce a subscription payment system for its website. In 2015, the editorial offices of Die Welt and the TV station N24 were merged to produce multimedia news. Since then, their motto has been "online first", meaning that all articles are first published on the website. The print version was shortened from 24 pages to 16 in 2021.
