Handelsblatt is the widest circulation German-language business and financial paper, and obligatory reading for the stock exchanges in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. It has been published in tabloid format since 2009. The Handelsblatt holds conferences, seminars and various competitions related to economics. In 2016 it started investing strongly on expanding its digital services. In February 2018 Handelsblatt dismissed its publisher, managing director and co-owner Gabor Steingart. The apparent context to this were different concepts of journalistic standards and the strategic plans for the Handelsblatt Media Group.
