Hotnews

In 1999, a group of journalists founded a website which was initially conceived as a Romanian media press review. In 2001 the team began publishing investigative pieces by journalists which mainly dealt with cases of corruption that had either not been covered in other Romanian daily newspapers. In 2005 the website was rebranded Hotnews and quickly became one of Romania's best known news sites. Hotnews describes itself as politically neutral. It is also published in English and Spanish. Hotnews belongs to Media Bit Software SRL, which was taken over in 2022 by Multi Media Est, a company owned by film producer Dragoş Vîlcu.
