Der Landbote is the daily paper of the city of Winterthur. It was first published in 1836, making it one of Switzerland's oldest publications, and its founders had close connections to the Democratic movement. At the end of 2013 the Tamedia group (now TX Group) bought the majority stake in the paper's publisher, the Winterthur-based Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG. Since the takeover the paper takes its international and national news coverage from the TX Group's central editing department.
