Kauno diena is one of the leading regional dailies, a successor to the Soviet paper Kauno tiesa which was founded in 1945. Published in the city of Kaunas this paper still has a reasonably high circulation, 90 percent of which is subscription-based, but it has been negatively affected by the financial problems of other members of the Diena Media News group.
