The weekly magazine L'Express was originally founded in 1953 as a weekly supplement to the business newspaper Les Echos. It featured contributions by famous writers such as Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre. L'Express was owned for a time by the Dassault Group and the Belgian media group Roulart. Today the magazine belongs to the telecommunications company SFR. Today, the magazine is owned by business executive Alain Weill and is modelled on The Economist.
