LRT was launched as the website of Latvia's public broadcaster in 2000. LRT also offers a Russian and an English version. However it is not as successful as other online media such as Delfi. The portal, like all public broadcasting, ran the risk of being instrumentalized by politics, but has so far successfully resisted it.
