Launched in 2006 as the online version of the daily paper Lietuvos rytas, Lrytas has developed over the years into an independent outlet. Its content still overlaps with that of the newspaper and Lietuvos rytas TV, despite the fact that the website was sold to the Ekspress Grupp in 2022 in a deal that is under investigation by the antitrust authorities.
