The weekly current affairs magazine Marianne was launched by French journalists Jean-François Kahn and Maurice Szafran in 1997. Its stance is provocative and critical of the government. Originally independent, it has belonged to the CMI France media group owned by Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský since 2019.
