Revista 22 (Magazine 22) was named in memory of December 22, 1989, the day the Ceaușescu regime was overthrown. During those revolutionary times intellectuals and dissidents came together and founded the Group for Social Dialogue (GDS), which issues Revista 22 as its own independent publication. The magazine features current debates, analyses and commentary pieces. It is financed by subscriptions, advertising, donations, EU funding and funding from the Romanian Ministry of Culture. Since 2018 the paper only appears every two weeks due to financial reasons.
