RTE is Ireland's largest TV and radio broadcaster by far and is legally constrained to political impartiality. It is semi-state owned and financed by a mix of licensing fees and advertising. Launched in 1996 its online platform is now one of Ireland's most visited websites and features blog entries by a number of famous RTE journalists, posted at irregular intervals.
