The daily Sega describes itself as an independent quality newspaper. It focusses on commentary pieces and analyses by prominent Bulgarian columnists like Dmitry Ivanov and Emil Harsev. Its publisher, entrepreneur Sasho Donchev, is also the owner of Bulgaria's largest gas company Overgas, 50 percent of which belongs to Russian energy giant Gazprom. Due to the low demand for a printed daily newspaper, the publisher decided to convert Sega into a weekly starting January 1, 2020 and, by extension, to expand its online presence with more breaking news, alongside audio and video content.
