Suomenmaa is the newspaper of the liberal Centre Party (originally the Agrarian League) and is published three times a week. Founded in 1908 under the name Maakansa, it was renamed to Suomenmaa in 1965 after the Agrarian League became the Centre Party. Although Suomenmaa is a party organ it is more influential than its circulation would seem to indicate as its articles are often cited and commented on by other media. As a result of the Center Party's defeat in the parliamentary elections in April 2019, the financial support received by the party decreased by 50%. Instead of three times a week, the newspaper now appears only monthly.
