The Polish publisher Murator S.A has been publishing the tabloid Super Express since 1991. The newspaper has been locked in a fierce competition with Fakt, which belongs to the German-Swiss publishing group Ringier Axel Springer, since 2003. After initial losses Super Express recovered and is now firmly ensconced as a leader in its segment. It likes to cast itself in the role of defender of the man on the street and models itself on British tabloids. Super Express has enhanced its political profile in recent years. Regular commentators include the leader of the left-wing party Razem, Adrian Zandberg, and Leszek Miller, former prime minister in the left-wing SLD government.
