The European is a debate website which since 2012 also appears in a quarterly print edition. Instead of being a magazine devoted exclusively to Europe it aims to foster debate as part of European intellectual history. It publishes opinion pieces by various authors as well as interviews. In 2015, when the magazine was on the brink of closure, it was purchased by the Munich-based Weimar Media Group.
