The Irish Times is widely seen as Ireland's only genuine quality newspaper. It has the largest new network of foreign correspondents and is generally left-liberal and pro-European in stance. Its main rival is The Irish Independent. In July 2018, The Irish Times took over the Irish Examiner daily newspaper.
