Világgazdaság is a business daily. For a long time it had a reputation for being outward-looking and critical of the government. Renowned experts from academic circles often contributed to its commentary sections, alongside the editorials. However, after its takeover in autumn 2014 by Mediaworks Hungary Zrt, a subsidiary of the Austrian company Vienna Capital Partners (VCP) with close ties to the Hungarian government, the paper took on a pro-government stance, and since 2018 it has belonged to the pro-government media foundation KESMA. In June 2022, the print version was discontinued and it now only appears online.
