Yeni Şafak is a pro-government daily with an Islamic-conservative profile. It was first published in 1995 and has belonged to the Albayrak Holding conglomerate since 1997. In its initial phase it represented both Islamic and liberal opinions. However since İbrahim Karagül took over as chief editor in 2012 the emphasis has shifted to religious columnists and it pursues a pro-government course.
