A group of 14 journalists from different Spanish and Italian dailies founded the website ctxt.es in 2015 with the intention of practicing independent journalism. The name stands for "contexto" (= context). All content is free, advertising is kept to a minimum and it is mostly funded by donations. The honorary president is the left-wing intellectual Noam Chomsky.
