Kisalföld is one of the most widely read Hungarian regional newspapers. The newspaper used to be part of the Lapcom media group. In 2017, Lapcom was bought by the late government-affiliated film producer and media entrepreneur Andy Vajna. In 2018, he handed over the publishing house to the media company Mediaworks Zrt., that has close ties to the government and has belonged to the pro-government KESMA media foundation since the end of 2018. KESMA became the owner of all publishing houses in Hungary that publish the traditional regional high-circulation regional newspapers. The production of the content has been centralized, the regional editorial offices are still responsible for certain local and regional contributions.
