al-Sabah is the leading and most widely read newspaper in the country. It was founded by the transitional administration immediately after the fall of the Ba'ath regime. It is part of the Iraqi Media Network, the network of public broadcasters that operates the country's central and local TV and radio stations. Its budget comes from the Iraqi state budget. It is regarded as the press organ of the Iraqi state.
