The liberal daily Deník is published every day except Sundays in 73 different regional versions, all with a general news and commenary section that is produced in Prague. The first part of the paper comprises the local section and the second part is the national section with a daily commentary piece. For many years its publisher was owned by German publishing company Verlagsgruppe Passau, but since 2016 it belongs to the Czech-Slovakian group Penta Investments and other investors.
