24.hu is an independent website which has been trying to catch up with the two market leaders Index and Origo since a new editor-in-chief took over in 2017. It is more technologically advanced than its competitors, incorporating elements such as digital storytelling into its reporting. In terms of content, editor-in-chief Péter Szigeti says he wants to "just make a normal news site". Its senior duty editor is Péter Petö, the former deputy editor of the discontinued, long-running centre-left newspaper Népszabadság.
