The Global Times is a national newspaper in China that appears in both Chinese and English. It is an offshoot of Renmin Ribao (People's Daily), the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party. It focuses on foreign reporting and is known for its frequently nationalistic tone. The Chinese language edition first appeared in 1993; the English language edition in 2009.
