When Vzglyad was founded in 2005, the intention was to create a media outlet to compete with the established liberal business newspapers Kommersant and Vedomosti. But unlike the online newspaper, the print edition never got beyond the start phase. The website, which focuses on functionaries in business and administration, is published by a sociology institute with close ties to the Kremlin.
