Baricada is the blog of a group of left-wing activists, journalists and intellectuals in various Eastern European countries. Their stated aim is to provide an alternative to conservative and neoliberal opinions and analysis, but also to the conventional media. The blog, which is financed by the Bulgarian publishing house Baricada and launched in Bulgaria in 2016, regards itself as independent. It publishes news, commentary, analysis and social criticism on global issues, with particular focus on the Balkans. There has been a Romanian editorial office since 2017, which deals with Romanian topics. Every now and then articles are exchanged with the Bulgarian website.
