Baricada is the blog of a group of left-wing activists, journalists and intellectuals in various Eastern European countries. Their stated aim is to provide an alternative to conservative and neoliberal opinions and analysis, but also to conventional mainstream media. The blog, which is financed by Bulgarian publisher Baricada and NGO funding and was launched in Bulgaria in 2016, describes itself as independent. It publishes news, commentary, analysis and social criticism on global issues, with special focus on the Balkans. A Romanian editorial office was launched in 2017, which deals with Romanian topics. It sometimes exchanges articles with the Bulgarian website.
