L'Orient-Le Jour is Lebanon's only French-language daily newspaper. It emerged in 1971 from the fusion of two competing papers, L'Orient and Le Jour, and remains true to their values: democracy, pluralism, and openness. The commentary columns of this internationally acclaimed paper regularly feature pieces by Lebanese intellectuals. A selection of the articles is available online in English under the heading L'Orient Today. The newspaper is also aimed at Lebanese living outside the country.
