Originally founded by the American Jed Sunden, the weekly magazine Korrespondent, published since 2002, was long regarded as the leading West-leaning journal. After being sold in November 2013 to the then pro-government Ukrainski Media Holding (United Media Holding group), the magazine lost even more ground due to the departure of the original editorial team. The Russian-language magazine now appears only twice monthly. However, the associated bilingual website Korrespondent.net, founded in 2000, continues to attract high visitor numbers.
