Forbes Russia, the Russian licensed edition of the US business magazine, was founded by Axel Springer Verlag in 2004. Due to a 2014 media law that limited foreign ownership to 20 percent, the magazine and the daily website were transferred to a Russian entrepreneur in 2015, who then sold the publishing company to investor Magomed Musaev in 2019. In 2022, the print edition was discontinued due to a conflict with the US licenser.
