This daily newspaper which appears Monday to Saturday belongs to the Belgian media group Mediahuis. The Belgian group acquired the Independent News and Media group and its titles, the Belfast Telegraph and the Irish Independent, in 2019. It is one of Northern Ireland's oldest newspapers but its circulation has dropped sharply in recent years. After the takeover by Mediahuis, a paywall was introduced for website content. The Belfast Telegraph is considered a unionist paper.
