Deutsche Welle (DW), based in Bonn and Berlin, is the international broadcaster of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its content is broadcast on the radio, on television and online in 30 languages. In 2011, however, its radio programmes were scaled back and its television and online presence boosted. In 2012 there was a complete relaunch with an added emphasis on the abbreviated form of its name, DW. A full 24-hour television programme is broadcast in English, German, Spanish and Arabic.
