El Español is an online newspaper project initiated by well-known journalist Pedro J. Ramírez, former editor-in-chief of the daily El Mundo. He is the website's co-founder and editor-in-chief and founder of the publishing group El León de El Español Publicaciones S.A.. El Español calls itself "your plural, free, indomitable digital newspaper". A distinguishing characteristic is its ten regional sections.
