Islamists fomenting hatred against Sweden
In some Arabic-language Internet forums, there appears to be a campaign spreading misinformation about Swedish authorities taking children away from Muslim parents to sell them or lead them away from their religion. Swedish media discuss what can be done to counteract such hate campaigns.
Don't let the extremists win
People must be educated about misinformation, demands Dagens Nyheter:
“It is nothing new that there are parents with an immigrant background in Sweden who fear the welfare office and wrongly believe that it is easy for them to lose their children. .... The purpose of this disinformation campaign is simple: real or fictitious children are being used to drive a wedge between Swedish Muslims and the majority society. These Islamists want ordinary Muslims to hate Swedish society, to distrust it and to feel that it is not possible to live here as a Muslim. It is absolutely crucial that we don't let them win.”
Accelerate deportations
The deportation of certain immigrants must not fail because of bureaucratic obstacles, Göteborgs-Posten insists:
“In the midst of this dangerous disinformation campaign there are people who pose a threat to national security. These are the imams sentenced to deportation who, according to [intelligence agency] Säpo, pose a serious security risk. They have not yet been deported because of obstacles to enforcement. ... To make more deportations possible the government must negotiate with the countries of origin to guarantee the lives and safety of those deported. Follow-up visits by representatives of the Swedish government can then be made to ensure that the guarantees are being respected.”
